Artist Biography

Maureen Hilliker was born in Buffalo, NY as the second of four daughters.  Her father is an electrician, and her mother would work seasonally to provide gifts for her children during the holidays.

From an early age, the importance of education was emphasized, especially by her mother.  With this, and without a defined direction in her adolescent years, Maureen pursued Bachelor and Master degrees in accounting, and eventually earned her CPA license.  Her educational background lead to a career in consulting, which allowed her to travel and see firsthand a world which was previously inaccessible.  She eventually accepted a position within a global consultancy firm, and moved to Manhattan to work within the world’s most prestigious investment banks.

She believes that her continuous development as a self-taught artist allows for a raw, pure and uninfluenced expression of her most personal thoughts, observations and experiences.  As gender disparities are ever-present, most works are undeniably the product of a female artist.
